The purpose of the Grace Arts Community is to bring Glory to God and reveal His beauty through fine arts. This will include literature, drama, dance, music and visual arts. As we build a Gospel community at Grace Presbyterian church we will affect cultural renewal. This renewal takes hold of our souls as believers and invades the un-churched community as our Lord's beauty is revealed through the work of believers as well as non-believers.
Creativity is not a luxury about which we need be suspicious. Rather, creative is woven into the warp and woof of what it means to be human. As God brought order to that which was formless and empty, we too reflect the image in which we were created when we paint on an empty canvas, fill silence with music, fill space with movement, or an empty page with thoughts.
It's my belief that though the degradation of sin and it's effects may move us to worship created things rather than the Creator, it is just as degrading to live lives with reflect the absence of creativity - as if we weren't supposed to reflect our Creator's image in the ways in which we live in His creation.
What has moved me and others to desire to create beautiful works is the realization that in Redemption, the Master Painter is creating works of arts on the canvases of people's lives. To be a display of His Grace and a testimony to the beauty of that hope is why I'm here, and to be that picture and poem is for another is why we're a community.
