What would it look like to embrace all that God meant for us as men and women? To live with hope and freedom? Any man or woman who longs to know truth and understand how their stories have kept them from living this out... Heart of Nehemiah Ministries is for you.
Come let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer live in disgrace. Nehemiah 2:!7
Heart of Nehemiah Ministries is a Bibically-based program that provides a safe place for working through the issues of abuse in the context of a small group. While we look at all abuse, we particularly look at the damage caused by sexual abuse. The leaders facilitate the rebuilding process for men and women who are seeking a compassionate and safe environment to honestly face the damage and effects of past abuse. Our primary focus is knowing and telling our stories. Each participant will receive a manual for personal reflection and preparation for the meetings.
In 1987, Dan Allendar conducted one of his first Wounded Heart Seminars in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Sandy Burdick, Women's Ministry Director at that church, asked him at the end of the conference, "How do I follow up?" He said, "I don't know, start a group." That first group had grown into a national ministry.
Open Hearts Ministry, located in Kalamazoo, Michigan, holds local small groups and yearly training conferences. Sherri Womble attended the first conference in 1993 and in 1994 began Nehemiah Ministries in Greensboro. Nehemiah is an extension of Open Hearts Ministries. It is based on the work of Dan Allendar and The Wounded Heart.
