Frequently Asked Questions
What are the folks at Grace church all about?
Although Grace is a Presbyterian church, we come from many different backgrounds. What unifies us is a desire to know Jesus and to experience his life-changing power. The worship of God is central to our life together here as we seek to love God with all our heart, and to love one another deeply. We also want people to tell people about Jesus in words and deeds in Kernersville and around the world.
Why the name Grace?
Through the grace of God, we have been blessed many times over and in no place is this more displayed than in the love of God made manifest in the person of Jesus Christ. God's grace is why we're here, and we desire to proclaim this amazing grace to all.
Can you tell me a little bit about the Worship service?
At this time Grace offers one worship service on Sunday morning beginning at 10:30 am and running till 12:00 pm. We celebrate communion on the last Sunday of each month.
What is Grace's history?
Grace Presbyterian began as a daughter church of Redeemer Presbyterian in Winston-Salem in 1994 with a few folks meeting in a living room asking God to do an unusual work in the Triad. Our current meeting place is the direct result of God calling, providing, and building a community of people who also desire to see God work.
What's the deal with Sunday School and nursery?
Sunday school for children, youth, and adults is offered from 9:15-10:15 am. During the worship service, children four years old through third grade are invited to attend Children's Fellowship in their Sunday school classrooms. Nursery is provided for newborns and toddlers during both Sunday school and the worship service.
Are there any opportunities for fellowship during the week?
Yes. The primary fellowship activity for Grace attendees is our Home Fellowship Groups (HFG). The purpose of these groups is to develop a community where Christ is experienced in his presence and power, and where lives are transformed by the gospel through mutual ministry. These groups generally study a book of the Bible or explore a topic of interest and meet weekly in people's homes.
See our calendar for other activities during the week: Prayer meetings, Middle School and High School youth groups, Women's ministry activities, Men's ministry activities, Children's ministry activities, and others.
To what denomination does Grace belong?
Grace is a member of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). The PCA was formed in 1973 and sees the Bible as the inspired and inerrant Word of God, the only infallible rule of faith and practice. The denomination is true to the Scriptures, the reformed faith (as expressed in The Westminster Confession of Faith), and the Great Commission of Jesus Christ.
How do I become a member?
Joining Grace is a simple yet important process. We've developed this process in order for you to understand the commitment you will be making to God and His church. A Rooted in Grace course is offered approximately four times a year, and in it one will explore the history, vision, values, and philosophy of ministry of Grace. The first step to joining the church is to attend Rooted in Grace which is usually offered on a Friday night and Saturday format. The second step is a brief interview with the elders where you and the elders can discuss any final questions you might have.
